Conductor Alena Hron will make her debut with the Polish National Radio Orchestra (NOSPR) on 14 and 16 November, the latter being broadcast live on Polish National Radio, Channel 2. The repertoire will include Kodály’s Dances of Galanta, Bartók’s Hungarian Pictures and Kaprálová’s Suita Rustica. Hron is a champion of Vitezslava Kaprálová’s compositions; her recording of her complete orchestral works with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra has received the Diapason d’Or prize, and has been shortlisted for the 2025 Gramophone Awards.
Further highlights for Ms Hron’s season include performances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the MDR Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig, Kyoto Symphony and the South Czech Philharmonic, of which she was appointed Chief Conductor in 2024, making history as the first woman to hold the position of a Chief Conductor in the Czech Republic.
