Conductor Alena Hron and pianist Jan Bartoš make their debuts with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in two sold-out concerts at Bucharest’s Romanian Athenaeum on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October. Under Hron’s baton, the orchestra will perform a programme featuring Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture and Symphony No. 4 in F minor, alongside Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in D-flat major, with Bartoš as soloist.
Other notable debuts for Hron this season include engagements with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Liège Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra. In Czechia, she returns to the Prague Symphony Orchestra to lead two distinct programmes over the course of the season. These engagements build on a successful previous season, which saw her conduct special concerts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and make debuts with the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Gewandhaus, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice and the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra in Japan.
